Silver Heart Blog Tour - Review & Giveaway

Title:Silver Heart
 Author: Victoria Green
Release Date: July 25, 2013
Publisher: Self Published
Review Copy: Won from Justin's Book Blog
There comes a moment in everyone's life when they must decide which road leads to personal happiness. For Dylan Silver, this is that moment...

For the past twenty-two-years, Dylan has been living in her parents' carefully crafted world, always putting her own dreams on hold to play the role of a dutiful daughter.

So when her best friend coaxes her into a winter getaway to a mountain cabin, she sees it as a chance to forget about the responsibilities waiting for her at home. At least for a little while.

But then her past catches up to her--in the form of sexy snowboarder, Sawyer Carter.

Six years ago, Dylan bid goodbye to the only boy she ever truly loved. Now he's standing right in front of her, bringing up bittersweet memories and igniting suppressed desires as he dares her to be the person she has always wanted to be.

Dylan and Sawyer's unexpected meeting is a second chance, but will a girl who doesn't believe in fate and taking risks be able to overcome her fears of losing control and finally embrace the life she desperately wants?

Only one thing is certain: after a week in Whistler, Dylan's world will never be the same.

I think new adult is one is the one genre where readers have their favorite authors, and if they want to try anything new it takes a lot of high reviews or praise from fellow authors in order to convince someone to read said book. So when I say that this is one not to skip, believe me. It is definitely one that readers should add to their shelves.

Victoria has a way of making new adult a whole new experience, while also tackling issues that many people in their twenties face. Siblings not getting along, making a name for yourself, pleasing your parents and last but not least. Falling in love.

After reading this some things will never be the same. Cherries and lime popsicles being the main two things. I will never reveal how they've been ruined, for that you will just have to endure the same agony as I.

Can someone tell me where my Sawyer is? I am starting to think he turned a wrong turn. Victoria has a way with making guys dreamy that you almost think he is right in front of you as you read, doing all the unimaginable to you.

I loved Dylan, she is a strong woman who isn't afraid to let loose. Taking the term, 'What mama doesn't know, won't kill her' literally. The transition that she goes through in this story can give one hope that you can follow your dreams.

The story of Sawyer and Dylan is an emotional one. They're each others rock.  Memories flood back, both happy and sad that as a reader you go "What if?" By the end of the story you go from "What if?" to realizing everything happens for a reason.

Steamy scenes aside, this book is an amazing journe on that takes place on a cold Canadian mountain, and two people who discover what it truly means to be there for someone.

". The W.e'll have to find you a sexy ski fling to occupy your time-and bed-while I'm busy with your brother."

"And the mere fact that you used the words sexy, bed and brother in the same sentence just signed that ideas death warrant."

"I don't care if he's riding in on a unicorn." I don't have any interest in meeting the guy"

"I knew all those goats I'd sacrificed to Eros would eventually pay off.
"

"You know, you don't actually need a license to bang."

"For six years, all the girls I've been with were just forgotten names and blurry faces."

"Don't think that it didn't occur to me to punch your boyfriends gut out, and then sling you over my shoulder like some caveman
."

"In how many more languages do I have to scream the phase: 'I'm going to die!' Before you actually believe me?"

"He met me in an alley behind the shop with the bag ready to go. I swear, getting cherries in whistler is like trying to score drugs or something."

"Thought I knew it was medically impossible, I was pretty sure I was going to due from pleasure."

"If it hadn't been for you, my entire childhood would've been devoid of all color."

"Then I guess my lifelong dream of becoming a nun is out of the question."

"The guy had a freaking PhD in Pleasure."

This was one book where I found through a twitter picture so I scattered through Goodreads trying to find it. That cover is breathtaking with the lightning and those colors. I like the science fiction feel to it too. The story itself feels like an adventure I've always wanted to go on.

What do you think of the book? Also, what are you waiting for this week? Let me know in the comments!

Musical Monday #19

As you probably know, last night was The Grammy's. Honestly, not a night I'm all that interested in unless I love some of the nominees.

I was talking to my friend on Facebook and he told me he was getting emotional while watching. So, I turned it on. There, in the middle of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' song 'Same Love' were 33 couples getting married. And not just straight couples, same sex ones too. Brought me to tears it was so beautiful. It gives me hope that we can still change as a whole society for the acceptance of same sex couples. To the couples that got married, may you have a wonderful Ever After.

The power music and community can do wonders. Let us not forget that Love is Louder.

Did you watch this? Let me know what you think in the comments.

Tick to the Tock Blog Tour - Review & Giveaway

Title: Tick to the Tock
Author: Matthew Turner
Release Date: January 2, 2014
Publisher: CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform
Review Copy: ARC from author in exchange of honest review
Dante King is a young twenty something who discovers he’s dying. He won’t live to see his next birthday and time is ticking away to live life before it’s taken from him. With the help of his eccentric and wild-free friend, Wilbur Day, and stubbornly rational cousin, Ethan Knight, the three friends embark on a trip that takes them across Europe, Asia, Australia and beyond.

Dante clings to his past though and the many regrets he has, yearning for acceptance and finally understanding faith. He’s only loved once, and when Daniella Adams comes back in to his life, the pair realise how in love they are – but must battle what they previously did to one another.

This is a heart pulling journey of amazing scenery and adventurous ways, but built on a life that is soon to end. It follows the love of Danii and Dante, finally realising how much they mean to each other but having it ripped away before their eyes. It’s about love and hardship between friends, family, and a dying son’s regret of not being better.

It’s a roller coaster ride of laughs and tears and making the most of life before it’s too late.

This was a beautiful book. One minute I would be laughing, and the next, crying. Matthew wrote a story on what it truly means to live your last days.

I loved the fact that the story takes place in Europe. Being able to picture all the places that they visit to was breathtaking. This part was refreshing, especially after reading a few books taking place in North America.

The most heartbreaking part of this book was seeing Dante's deterioration. Brought back memories of before I lost a friend in 2009 from Cystic Fibrosis.

I wish I had more to say, but I feel that this is a book that a reader needs to experience on their own. Its a beautiful and sad journey that Dante goes through. But it makes you realize that life needs to be lived to the fullest.

Waiting on Wednesday #17

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly feature hosted by Breaking the Spine on books we need out, like now.

From the acclaimed author of Brooklyn, Burning comes Guy in Real Life, an achingly real and profoundly moving love story in the vein of Rainbow Rowell and John Green, about two Minnesota teens whose lives become intertwined through school, role-playing games, and a chance two-a.m. bike accident.

It is Labor Day weekend in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and boy and girl collide on a dark street at two thirty in the morning: Lesh, who wears black, listens to metal, and plays MMOs; Svetlana, who embroiders her skirts, listens to Björk and Berlioz, and dungeon masters her own RPG. They should pick themselves up, continue on their way, and never talk to each other again.

But they don't.

This is a story of two people who do not belong in each other's lives, who find each other at a time when they desperately need someone who doesn't belong in their lives. A story of those moments when we act like people we aren't in order to figure out who we are. A story of the roles we all play-at school, at home, with our friends, and without our friends-and the one person who might show us what lies underneath it all

My inner gamer self is flailing right now. This seems like such an awesome book for those who play MMORPG etc.

Feudlings in Smoke Book Highlight - Excerpt & Giveaway

Title: Feudlings in Smoke

Author: Wendy Knight

Genre: Young Adult Fantasy

Published: January 14th, 2014

Watching helplessly while your baby sister saves the world alone? It kinda sucks.

Will Delacour is one of the most powerful sorcerers to ever live. He’s Guard to the Edren Prodigy—his sister, Ari. But he walked away from the war, refusing to fight in a cause he didn’t believe in. He was deemed a traitor by the powerful Family, and now there’s a price on his head that leaves him trapped in a prison of his own making. And he can’t even tell the love of his life what she means to him because of the magical war that still controls their lives.

Instead of embracing his destiny, Will is forced to watch as Ari goes into battle over and over again, facing her enemies alone. She might be okay with it, but he’s not. He doesn’t believe in the war, but he does believe in her, and he knows his place is fighting by her side. Somehow, Will has to find a way to be there when Ari needs him , even if it means he forfeits his own life in the process.

----------------------------------------------------
Ari pointed a finger at him, “Don't think I've forgotten that little stunt you pulled today. I'm debating over an adequate punishment.” She shoved herself to her feet, crossing the room and touching a finger to the spark of the doorway she'd left burning. The portal bloomed to life, and he could see the airway hanger, and the sport utility vehicle she'd affectionately named Beep, waiting for her. She stepped through, but paused just on the other side. “Will?”
“Yeah, baby sister?” he asked with a smile. She was going to tell him that he needed to lighten up, or that he wasn't allowed to lecture boys, or that she forgot his pizza, which she had, and now that he thought about it he was mildly annoyed, but she surprised him.
“You always say that you aren't there to protect me like you're supposed to. I think you don't realize something.” She tipped her head sideways, considering him while his mouth hung open. “You trained me, Will. Without that, I would die a thousand times before the Prodigy ever found me. And today, you stopped that e-mail. You don't have to be fighting by my side to protect me.” She cracked the barest hint of a sarcastic smile. “Anyway, I'm an uber-powerful warrior. I don't need a babysitter.” Her sarcastic smile turned sad. “I need a brother who reminds me that I'm not a monster. Who loves me and always has my back. Who reminds me that I still have hope. If not for you, I would be lost. Remember that, Will.”
----------------------------------------------------

Wendy Knight was born and raised in Utah by a wonderful family who spoiled her rotten because she was the baby. Now she spends her time driving her husband crazy with her many eccentricities (no water after five, terror when faced with a live phone call, etcetera, etcetera). She also enjoys chasing her three adorable kids, playing tennis, watching football, reading, and hiking. Camping is also big: her family is slowly working toward a goal of seeing all the National Parks in the U.S.

You can usually find her with at least one Pepsi nearby, wearing ridiculously high heels for whatever the occasion may be. And if everything works out just right, she will also be writing.
